‘Stalker’ Rony arrested

Ref: Devashish Saha Rony, the prime accused in Chanpa Rani Bhowmik murder case, was arrested at Jhenidah district headquarters on Sunday morning.

A special team, comprised of Faridpur Additional Superintendent of Police Subrata Kumar Haldar, Investigating Officer Md Ali Khandkar and Sub-inspector Sheikh Abu Bakr of Detective Branch, captured Rony from a motor garage in Aragpur area of Jhenidah town around 10:30am, Faridpur Superintendent of Police (SP) Awlad Ali Fakir told journalists at a press conference at his office in the afternoon. BCL vandalises Ramna temple

Ref: The police have arrested three Bangladesh Chhatra League activists of Dhaka University for vandalising the Ramna Kali Mandir. Animesh, Gobinda and Prakash were arrested in the early hours of Sunday. Police inspector Mizanur Rahman, told bdnews24.com that the clash had erupted over ownership of two shops near the temple’s gate.

Indonesia disaster toll hits 377

Ref:Indonesia’s Mount Merapi erupted on Thursday for the second time in a week, blasting vast plumes of ash into the sky, as the death toll from the initial eruption and a tsunami that hit remote western islands reached 377.

There were no immediate reports of new casualties after Merapi’s second eruption. More than 40,000 people had fled or been evacuated from Merapi’s slopes earlier in the week, but many started to return after the volcano appeared to become calmer. Read more →

Shibir president threatens PM, Shahara
