Yemen’s Houthis advance despite Saudi-led bombing

REF: Houthi fighters and allies backed by tanks have advanced onto a key district in the main southern city of Aden, despite a week of air strikes by Saudi-led coalition forces.

BNP will not sit out city polls in any way, Emajuddin says after meeting Khaleda

REF: The BNP will not stay away from elections to city corporations in Dhaka and Chittagong in any way, Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s Adviser Emajuddin Ahamed has said.The former Dhaka University vice-chancellor was speaking to reporters after meeting Khaleda at her office on Tuesday.
“The question of  election boycott does not arise,” Emajuddin, convener of pro-BNP professionals’ organisation Citizens’ Committee, said.

Buhari secures historic election victory in Nigeria

REF: Former military ruler Muhammadu Buhari has become the first Nigerian to defeat a sitting president through the ballot box, putting him in charge of Africa’s most populous nation and its biggest economy.

Al Jazeera’s Yvonne Ndege, reporting from the capital Abuja, said Buhari was declared the winner after he gained 2.7 million more votes than his rival, incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan.
