Another businessman slain and dumped in Rajshahi

Ref: Within a span of 10 days of the recovery of the sliced body of a businessman here, the residents of the city were shocked to see another young businessman having been doped and dumped under the ground of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital premises.

The deceased was identified as Mahbubul Alam alias Russell, 25, hailed from Bagma village in Lalpur upazila of Natore district.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of the Rapid Action Battalion-5, led by Major Rakibul Hasan, dug up the dead from underneath the ground near Charu Mamar Canteen at about 3pm.

The elite force arrested Russell’s friend Jyotirmoy alias Joy, a final-year student of Rajshahi Medical College.

“Joy confessed that he had pushed into Russell’s body a narcotic injection and dumped him under the ground,” said one RAB source.

Family sources said Russell had left home for Dhaka on April 4. Since then, he had been missing.

Another friend of the victim, Sabbir, went into hiding after the grim discovery.

The sliced body of renowned businessman Aminul Haque was recovered from a house at Alupatty in the city early on April 13.

Police traced and recovered the dismembered body three days after he had gone missing.

Political leaders irrespective of party affiliations were still staging protest against the killing and demanding exemplary punishment of those involved in the gruesome murder when another spell of shock and awe struck the mostly simple-minded people of Rajshahi.
