Pry text books by Dec 10

Ref: The primary textbook publishers will not be penalized if they distribute textbooks all over the country by Dec 10 against the previous deadline of Nov 30, primary and mass education minister Afsarul Ameen has said.
“The government has taken the decision to ensure that supply of textbooks to the primary students early in the year 2011,” he said.

JSC, JDC exams deferred to Nov 22

The mathematics exam of Junior Secondary Certificate, introduced this year, scheduled for Sunday has been deferred to Nov 22 at 10am.

Meanwhile, the social sciences exam of the Junior Dakhil Certificate has also been postponed.

Dhaka education board’s secretary Abdus Salam Hawladar confirmed on Saturday that the exam had been deferred due to ‘unavoidable circumstances’.

The decision was made on Saturday after a meeting with the education ministry.

The main opposition BNP has called a day-long general strike protesting the party chief being evicted from her cantonment house in the afternoon.

A total of 15,05,391 students are taking part in JSC and JDC exam. Among them some 3,76, 234 students from Dhaka board, 1,56,789 from Rajshahi board, 1,590,48 from Comilla board, 1, 57, 295 from Jessore board, 1, 50,60 from Chittagong board, 75,710 Barisal board, 69,621 from Sylhet board, 1,33,534 from Dinajpur board and 2,72000 students from Madrasa education board are taking part in the exam.
