Ref: Main opposition BNP chief Khaleda Zia has been invited to the oath swearing programme of the newly elected Chittagong mayor M Manzur Alam, the Awami League leader general secretary Syed Ashraful Islam said on Saturday.
Prime minister Sheikh Hasina will administer the oath of BNP-backed mayor-elect at her office at 10am on Sunday.
Ashraf said that the oath programme of 41 councillors and 14 female councillors of reserved seats will be held at the LGED office at Agargaon at 12pm the same day. Read more →
Ref: Senior opposition BNP leader Moudud Ahmed has said the present Awami League-led government is using the law enforcers to suppress opposition.
He also said that the AL has again resorted to the ‘Rakkhi Bahini culture,’ just like in the past. The Jatiyo Rakkhi Bahini was a controversial political militia force formed in 1975 with a status of an elite force and was assigned to recover arms from the civilians.
