Bangladesh opposition leader Khaleda Zia’s motorcade comes under attack again

REF: BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s motorcade has come under attack in Dhaka during the city election campaign like in the past two days.

A group of youths launched the attack at Bangla Motor with batons and hockey sticks on Wednesday afternoon.
Her motorcade stopped at the traffic signal there around 5:15pm.

BNP chief Khaleda Zia joins city corporation elections campaign

REF: BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has campaigned for the party-endorsed Dhaka North City Corporation mayor candidate Tabith Mohammed Awal.

“How are you all? I know, not good. I have come today to seek vote. Cast your vote for Tabith. The symbol is bus,” she was heard saying while speaking to locals on Saturday.

Khaleda Zia asks people to stage ‘ballot revolution’ in city elections

REF: BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, who failed to topple the government with months of violent street agitation, has urged the people to stage ‘silent revolution of ballots’ against the government in the city polls.

She made the call at a programme of her party’s cultural wing in front of the BNP headquarters on Tuesday.The BNP-endorsed Dhaka South mayor candidate Tabith Awal and North’s aspirant Mirza Abbas’ wife, Afroza, were present there.

CEC orders police not to harass candidates without reason

REF: CEC Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmad gave the order at an interaction with mayor and councillor candidates of Dhaka North City Corporation at Farmgate’s KIB Complex on Sunday.
The BNP has been urging the Election Commission to take measures to ensure that its leaders and activists are not harassed or arrested in cases of sabotage.

REF: The BNP will not stay away from elections to city corporations in Dhaka and Chittagong in any way, Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s Adviser Emajuddin Ahamed has said.The former Dhaka University vice-chancellor was speaking to reporters after meeting Khaleda at her office on Tuesday.

One Magura arson victim dies, 5 others in critical condition

REF: One of the victims burnt in the fire-bombing of a truck in Magura has died.Five other victims burnt in the incident on Saturday night at Mogirdhal area in Magura Sadar are said to be in critical condition, doctors said.


Resident Surgeon Partha Shankar Pal said that nine victims of the arson were admitted to the burns unit of the Dhaka Medical College & Hospital (DMCH) around 2:30am past midnight.

BNP leader Salahuddin Ahmed arrested, claims his wife

REF: BNP’s Joint Secretary General Salahuddin Ahmed was picked up by plainclothesmen at 10:30pm on Tuesday from a house in Dhaka, his wife claimed Wednesday night.


Hasina Ahmed, a former BNP MP, told that her husband was taken away from a house in Uttara, north Dhaka.
