Ref: srael has demanded an explanation from Argentina over reports it proposed to Iran it would stop investigating two bombings if trade ties improved.

Argentina, Israel and the US have blamed Iran for the bombings of the Israeli embassy and a Jewish community centre in Buenos Aires in the 1990s.

Iran has denied involvement in the bombings, which killed 114 people.

An Israeli spokesman said if true, “it would be a display of infinite cynicism and a dishonour to the dead”.

Israeli settlements: US vetoes UNSC resolution

Ref: The US has vetoed an Arab resolution at the UN Security Council condemning Israeli settlements in the Palestinian territories as an obstacle to peace.

All 14 other members of the Security Council backed the resolution, which had been endorsed by the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO).

It was the first veto exercised by the Obama administration which had promised better relations with the Muslim world.

A Palestinian official said the talks process would now be “re-assessed”.

Ref: he Israelis apparently rejected the concession and made no offer in return.Al-Jazeera says it has thousands of confidential records on the peace process covering the years 2000-2010.The chief Palestinian negotiator questioned the validity of the documents, which the BBC has been unable to verify independently.Saeb Erekat dismissed the documents as “a bunch of lies” in an interview with al-Jazeera shortly after they were released.Al-Jazeera says it has 16,076 confidential records of meetings, emails, communications between Palestinian, Israeli and US leaders.The papers are believed to have leaked from the Palestinian side.
The alleged offers relating to East Jerusalem are the most controversial, as the issue has been a huge stumbling block in Mideast talks and both Israelis and Palestinians claim Jerusalem as their capital.
