Israeli forces kill Palestinians after alleged attacks

REF: At least five Palestinians have been killed in the occupied Palestinian territories, three by Israeli security forces and one by an Israeli settler, bringing the total number of Palestinians killed since the beginning of the month to 43.

On Saturday evening, an Israeli soldier fatally shot a Palestinian man in the Old City of Hebron, situated in the southern occupied West Bank, according to local media.

Israeli forces kill Gaza border protesters

REF: Gaza City – Thousands of Palestinians have protested across the occupied Palestinian territory in a “Day of Rage”, as clashes with Israeli forces have left two Palestinian demonstrators dead and dozens more injured. 


Tensions boiled over into violence earlier this month as Israeli incursions into the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound – the third holiest site in Islam – gave way to protests and clashes that have consumed much of the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip.

Israeli police kill more Palestinians in Jerusalem

REF: Israeli forces have shot and killed two more Palestinians, following fourteen days of violence that have already claimed at least another 30 Palestinian lives.


Israeli police opened fire on one young Palestinian on Wednesday afternoon at the entrance of the Damascus gate in Jerusalem. The Ma’an News Agency said he was 20-years-old and from Hebron.

Israel authorises police to blockade Jerusalem suburbs

REF: Israel’s security cabinet has approved a series of new measures designed to combat spiralling Israeli-Palestinian violence after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to take “aggressive steps” to prevent further clashes.


“The security cabinet decided several measures to combat terrorism, notably authorising police to seal off or impose a curfew on parts of Jerusalem in case of friction or incitement to violence,” the security cabinet said in a statement released early on Wednesday morning.

Deaths as Israeli-Palestinian clashes rage unabated

REF: A series of stabbing attacks have resulted in the deaths of three alleged Palestinian attackers and resulted in several more Israelis and Palestinians being injured as violence intensifies in Israel and the occupied Palestinian territories.


Writing on Twitter, Israeli police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said that four apparent stabbing incidents took place in Jerusalem on Monday.

Israeli forces accused of shooting at the press

REF: For Palestinian television correspondent Muhammad Sayyad, 27, attacks by Israeli police officers and soldiers are a routine part of the job.


“This isn’t new for us, but the violence [against journalists] has increased lately,” Sayyad, who works for the local Ma’an News Agency, told Al Jazeera.

Russian warships join Syria war with rocket attacks

REF: Russian warships in the Caspian Sea have launched rockets at the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) in Syria which hit their targets, Russia’s President Vladimir Putin and Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu said in a joint television appearance.


Russian efforts “will be synchronised with the actions of the Syrian army on the ground and the actions of our air force will effectively support the offensive operation of the Syrian army,” Putin said in the meeting with Shoigu on Wednesday.

Masked gunmen kill Japanese national in Bangladesh

REF: Three masked gunmen have killed a Japanese man in Bangladesh, the second foreign national to be killed there within a week, raising alarms among the country’s foreign community.


Police said they had detained four suspects in connection with the shooting on Saturday of Kunio Hoshi, 65, in Rangpur district, 335km north of the capital, Dhaka, in an attack similar to the shooting on Tuesday of Italian national Cesare Tavella.

Air strike kills MSF medical staff in Afghanistan

REF: Doctors Without Borders (MSF) says at least nine of its staff have been killed in an overnight bombing of a hospital in the embattled Afghan city of Kunduz.


Another 37 people were wounded in the attack, including 19 MSF staff, the medical charity organisation told Al Jazeera.
