Ref: Prime minister Sheikh Hasina has said her government intends to make sure that power will change hands through ballot, not bullet.
Her comment came a day after the government had formed an all-party parliamentary committee to review all the amendments brought so far to the constitution of 1972.
Delivering her concluding speech at the end of parliament’s budget session on Thursday, the prime minister criticised main opposition BNP for not nominating any member to the committee.
She, however, said: “The committee will be reconstituted whenever the opposition nominates somebody to it.”
“This committee is meant for establishing people’s rights, preventing illegal takeover of power and ensuring that power comes through people’s hands.”
