A procession in support of hartal was brought out led by CPB presidium member Ahsan Habib Lovelu and workers’ leader Mantu Ghos from CPB Purana Paltan central office around 5:45am, banglanews correspondent reports.
Another pro-hartal procession was brought out by Bangladesh Chhatra Union from its Topkhana road central office around 6:00am and they paraded press club, Paltan, Segunbagicha areas, a spot account said.
BSD led-by its general secretary comrade Khalekuzzaman brought out a procession which paraded also Paltan, Dainik Bangla, Press Club areas.
All procession terminated in city’s Paltan intersection and leaders are addressing here in support of hartal.
Road blockade or vehicle vandalism was reported during the early hartal hours.
No vehicular movements were seen on the streets of Puran Dhaka, Sadarghat, Gulistan and Paltan areas. But, some auto-rickshaws are plying through streets.
Additional law enforcers have been deployed at Paltan intersection surround the CPB central office. They did not make any obstruction to any pro-hartal procession.
Earlier on December 7, the two leftist parties called the dawn to dusk hartal for December 18 in a press conference at Paltan’s BSD central office.
The other demands include diminish public sufferings through price hike of essentials including electricity and fuel oils.
