The authorities have rescheduled the firth rate this year.
Islamic Foundation fixed the lowest amount of fitra at Tk 45 per person. The decision was made at a review meeting at Baitul Mukarram mosque on Sunday.
Earlier on Aug 26, however, the authorities had fixed fitra at Tk 100 per person.
It was reviewed in Sunday’s meeting that the cost of 1 kg and 650 gm of wheat was Tk 45, and so the lowest figure was fixed at Tk 45.
Baitul Mukarram mosque Khatib Moulana Mohammad Salahuddin said if dates, dried grapes or cheese were taken to fix the lowest amount of fitra, the price of 1 kg and 300gm of those items would have to be considered.
On Aug 27, the Lalbagh Madrasa Sharia Board fixed fitra at Tk 45 per person in Dhaka city and its surrounding areas, in a meeting chaired by Lalbagh Madrasa chief Fazlul Huq Amini.
The decision created confusion about the lowest amount due as Fitra. The Islamic Foundation re-fixed the amount to clear any confusion.
Moulana Salahuddin told bdnews24.com on Monday morning that the figure was still more than the lowest fitra amount that could be distributed.
Additionally, an Islamic Foundation officer told bdnews24.com that Tk 100 as fitra was fixed considering the price of rice and that people could choose to follow that estimation as well.
