Ref: The opposition alliance will stage demonstrations across Bangladesh on Sunday to protest against what they describe as the ‘government’s corruption, tyranny and public suffering’.
“An agitation rally will be held at 3pm in front of the BNP central office at Naya Paltan,” party’s Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said.
He said party units across the country have been asked to stage demonstrations on that day.
BNP chief Khaleda Zia will hold a mass campaign in the capital on Dec 26. Other Opposition leaders will lead mass campaign in the districts.
The BNP-led 18-Party Alliance had been agitating ever since the present government annulled the caretaker provision through the 15th Amendment to the Constitution last year.
The Amendment provides for holding the forthcoming national elections under the stewardship of the present government which the opposition alliance is opposed to.
