Islami Chhatra Shibir activists hurled locally-made bombs on a police car on Wednesday at the start of the half-day strike in Rajshahi.
At least seven persons, including three policemen, were injured in explosions and attacks.
The strike has been called to protest the arrest of Jamaat-e-Islami Central Publicity Secretary Tasim Alam.
Jamaat supporters hurled bombs on the police car near Rajshahi University gate in Kajla area. The injured were locally hospitalised.
Police nabbed two Islami Chhatra Shibir activists from the scene.
Motihar Police Station Officer in Charge Sanaul Haque told bdnews24.com that some youngmen appeared at the university entrance gate suddenly and raised slogans of ‘Naraye takbir, Allahu Akbar’.
“Within no time, the numbers had swelled to more than 150 . ”
Police stopped them from blocking the road. According to the OC, Jamaat-Shibir activists then attacked the law enforcers and hurled bricks and upto 10 local bombs.
