Rony files bail plea, hearing after Eid

REF:   Ruling Awami League lawmaker Golam Maula Rony filed a bail petition with Metropolitan Session Judge Court on Sunday morning.


Rony’ lawyer Kabir Hossai filed the petition.The court fixed August 13 for hearing on bail plea hearing. So, Rony has to stay in jail during Eid-ul-Fitr.


On July 21, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rezaul Karim bailed him out upon a bond of Tk 5,000 bond when Roni pleaded for bail after surrendering before the court.

On July 25, a Dhaka court sent ruling Awami League MP Golam Maula Rony to jail after rejecting bail plea.

On July 24, Golam Maula Rony MP was arrested shortly after a Dhaka court had issued arrest warrant against him canceling his bail in the case of assaulting TV journalists.

On July 20, authorities of Independent Television filed case against MP Rony and 20/25 other unknown persons for their alleged involvement in physically assaulting two journalists of the TV channel. MP Roni and others were accused for attempt to murder, vandalism and arson.

Later, Golam Maula Rony filed a counter case against Salman F Rahman, owner of the Independent Television, and two others on Saturday night.

He filed the case with Shahbagh police station in allegations of claiming extortion from him and threatening the kill him.
