Dakkhin Keraniganj Police Station’s Inspector Monir Hossain said they arrested ‘Mamun’, 40, a resident of Shubhadya in Keraniganj, from Nimtoly at Sirajdikhan of Munsiganj.
Hossain is investigating the case Mondol’s grandmother Sabitri Mondol had filed following the abduction.
“Mamun was involved in Parag’s abduction- we have information leading to the conclusion,” Hossain said.
While heading for school, miscreants kidnapped six-year-old grade-one student Parag after shooting his mother, sister and their driver. He was found abandoned in Anti Bazar area in Keraniganj on Tuesday night.
The school-goer was taken to hospital immediately after he was rescued as he appeared to have been drugged.
Police said Mamun is accused in a case filed in 2001.
Parag’s mother Lipi Mondol, 33, is undergoing treatment at a city hospital, while her daughter Pinaki Mondol, 11, returned home after treatment. The driver, Nazrul Islam, 35, is being treated at Mitford hospital.
Police have rejected the RAB claim that Parag was released in exchange of Tk 5 million ransom.
