Stocks fall as trading resumes

Ref: Week’s trading at the country’s two bourses resumed on Sunday registering a fall in the indexes.


The country’s premier bourse Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) experienced a wavering trend until midday when prices of most of the issues went down.

DSE general index lost 87.24 points within 20 minutes of the day’s trading.

The index then started rising and gained 10.7 points in the next 10 minutes.

And then the index again went on moving downwards until it lost 58.52 points to stand at 6106.29 points at 11:54am.

Out of the 232 issues traded by then, 83 advanced, 143 declined and six retained their earlier prices.

The turnover stood at Tk 1.75 billion.

Meanwhile, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) Selective Categories Index, following a spell of fluctuations, stood at 11097.35 points registering a fall of 44.12.

Of the 135 issues changed hands until midday, 45 gained, 86 slipped and four remained unchanged.

The turnover stood at Tk 227 million.
