The accident takes place in Gazipur’s Kaliakoir

Ref: At least three people were killed and another five injured early Friday when a train rammed into a three wheeler at Gazipur’s Kaliakoir, police said.

The accident took place around 5am Friday when Dhaka-bound Chitra Expresss hit the tiny vehicle at a level-crossing near Baradal Sonakhali railway bridge on the Kaliakoir-Baliadi road of the district, Kaliakoir Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Mohammad Jahidul Islam told bdnews24.com.

Three people, including the vehicle’s driver, were killed on the spot, he said.

Two of the deceased were identified as the driver Ripon Mia, 40, and Bidya, 30, while the third person was a female who could not be identified immediately, Islam added.

The injured were admitted to local hospitals and clinics where they were given first aid.

Relatives of the first two deceased have already claimed the respective bodies.

Joydevpur Railway Police camp SI Mohammad Dadon Mia said the woman’s body was sent to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital around 9:15am.
